DOWNLOAD LINK:
http://alphawolfpack.org/downloads/Computer_Maintain/Maintain_10.rar

easy maintenance batch program tuturial:

what i have created is a simple batch program that sits on my desktop named maintain.bat....
so what it does is cleans temp files, runs spybot, registry cleaner, disk fragmentation, and shuts down the computer when finished running.

when im ready to goto bed, just simply click the batch program, it maintains my computer, and i wake up computer is off (money / environment saving)

if anyone wants help in creating / customizing their own this i will be glad to help, running other programs... just post here.

any suggestions, additions?

here is what it looks like:
Code:

d:

cd program files\Spybot
start /high spybotsd /autoupdate /autoimmunize /autocheck /autofix /autoclose

cd ..

del %windir%\temp\*.* /f /s /q
del D:\*.tmp /f /s /q
cleanmgr /sagerun:1

@ping 127.0.0.1 -n 2 -w 1000 > nul
@ping 127.0.0.1 -n 180 -w 1000> nul

cd regseeker
start /high regseeker /autoclean

cd ..

@ping 127.0.0.1 -n 2 -w 1000 > nul
@ping 127.0.0.1 -n 180 -w 1000> nul

cd lavasoft
cd ad
"start /high ad-aware /custom +auto +update +sd +log:log.log

'@ping 127.0.0.1 -n 2 -w 1000 > nul
'@ping 127.0.0.1 -n 1800 -w 1000> nul

start /high %windir%\system32\defrag c: -v

@ping 127.0.0.1 -n 2 -w 1000 > nul
@ping 127.0.0.1 -n 1200 -w 1000> nul

start /high %windir%\system32\defrag d: -v

@ping 127.0.0.1 -n 2 -w 1000 > nul
@ping 127.0.0.1 -n 1800 -w 1000> nul

shutdown /s

explanation in-depth / whats going on

[basic dos commands]
driveletter: - will change to that drive ex. d:
cd - change directory
cd.. returns to parent directory
del - deletes a file

first off, i will explain the ping
Code:

@ping 127.0.0.1 -n 2 -w 1000 > nul
@ping 127.0.0.1 -n 180 -w 1000> nul

this pings your own computer, which acts as a timer to wait the amount of time in secs that is on the second line; before executing the next line of code.

so this command waits 180secs. before moving on, (3 mins.)

i would give the processor a break, but still multi-task letting programs over-lap, but what you DONT want is if you have a setup like mine where you want to defrag 2 drives, the defrag program can only do one drive at a time... so you want plenty of time between them, and you DONT want the shutdown command to execute while defraging.
(the more you run defrag.exe the less time it takes to defrag a drive)

next, very important the start command (which is the base for most of the commands)

Code:

start /high

if you look at the running screenshot below you will notice this will run the program in high priority
(yes you can set it to real-time, but it may lockup your computer, especially if it is a drive scanning program like spybot)

next spybot

Code:

start /high spybotsd /autoupdate /autoimmunize /autocheck /autofix /autoclose

starts spybot high priority...
/autoupdate - preforms internet update before launch
/autoimmunize - puts the definitions in teatimer / registry (spybots realtime protection)
/autocheck - runs the scan
/autofix - fixes any problems found
/autoclose - exits upon completion

file clean up (this can be customized / possiablities are endless)

Code:

del %windir%\temp\*.* /f /s /q
del D:\*.tmp /f /s /q
cleanmgr /sagerun:1

%windir% is just a variable that puts the location of your windows directory in its place ex. (c:\windows\)

/f - forces deletion of read-only files
/s - deletes subdirectories
/q - quiet mode (does not ask for confirm deletion)

del temp\*.* deletes any file in the temp directory
del d:\*.tmp deletes any .tmp file on the d: drive

cleanmgr is windows disk cleanup
you must run cleanmgr /sageset:1 once to create settings for the cleanmger
you may have up to 65536 sagesets, (0-65535) 1 is an interval that you set to what ever you want..

regseeker (freeware) link:http://www.hoverdesk.net/freeware.htm

Code:
cd regseeker
start /high regseeker /autoclean

auto removes registry entries that can be safely removed (old entries, currupts, etc..) ive been using this program for at least 3-4 yrs no problems.

lastly ad-aware (theres a reason its last)
ok you need ad-ware plus or professional for this to work
personal will not work
(free version)

Code:

cd lavasoft
cd ad
"start /high ad-aware /custom +auto +update +sd +log:log.log

the " are there so the command will not be run, it reconizes it as a invaild command (i forgot the actual dos rem command, not that important works this way so blah, what does it matter)

/custom - runs in custom scanning mode (you can set opitions in ad-adware GUI
+update - runs internet update
+auto - removes bad objects from scan
+sd - hides the window
+log:log.log - creates a log file named log.log

Code:

shutdown /s

self explanatory? lol
/s is to shutdown, just typing shutdown will give you the help options

i hope i explained everything well, if not i can edit the post later.

Very Happy thanks, and you can add any program that will run from command line, this current batch file uses all free programs or windows built in, so any one can use it, and anyone that wants to feel free to copy. Wink

%homedrive%

cd %programfiles%\Spybot
start /high spybotsd /autoupdate /autoimmunize /autocheck /autofix /autoclose

cd ..

del %windir%\temp\*.* /f /s /q
del %temp%\*.* /f /s /q
del %homedrive%\*.tmp /f /s /q

cleanmgr /sagerun:1
cleanmgr /sagerun:2

cd regseeker
start /high regseeker /autoclean

cd ..

@ping 127.0.0.1 -n 2 -w 1000 > nul
@ping 127.0.0.1 -n 180 -w 1000> nul

// cd lavasoft\ad

// @ping 127.0.0.1 -n 2 -w 1000 > nul
// @ping 127.0.0.1 -n 1800 -w 1000> nul

start /high defrag c: -v

@ping 127.0.0.1 -n 2 -w 1000 > nul
@ping 127.0.0.1 -n 1200 -w 1000> nul

start /high defrag d: -v

@ping 127.0.0.1 -n 2 -w 1000 > nul

i cleaned up the code a lot, made it faster, spybot is totally ran in the background, and added switch to shutdown to ensure that it will shutdown every time no matter what the system is doing.

Code:
%homedrive%
cd %programfiles%

start /high Spybot\spybotsd /taskbarhide /autoupdate /autoimmunize /autocheck /autofix /autoclose

del %windir%\temp\*.* /f /s /q
del %temp%\*.* /f /s /q
del %homedrive%\*.tmp /f /s /q

cleanmgr /sagerun:1
cleanmgr /sagerun:2

start /high regseeker/regseeker /autoclean

@ping 127.0.0.1 -n 2 -w 1000 > nul
@ping 127.0.0.1 -n 180 -w 1000> nul

// start /high lavasoft\ad\ad-aware /custom +auto +update +sd +log:log.log

// @ping 127.0.0.1 -n 2 -w 1000 > nul
// @ping 127.0.0.1 -n 1800 -w 1000> nul

start /high defrag c:

@ping 127.0.0.1 -n 2 -w 1000 > nul
@ping 127.0.0.1 -n 1200 -w 1000> nul

start /high defrag d:

@ping 127.0.0.1 -n 2 -w 1000 > nul
@ping 127.0.0.1 -n 1800 -w 1000> nul

shutdown -s -f

I am working on this program again. Laughing

the next version will be:

* fully customizable
* user friendly
* no more ping waits (guessing wait times)
* programs will execute as others finish increase efficiently
* runs completely in background or verbose mode
* GUI

man i got far in the program:

whats working:
backup, restore
view source (just noticed the last line needs to be on new line, its fixed but not worth uploading new file)
disk cleanup setup
GUI edited
drive selection

Whats left:
compile (main feature of the program)
auto run setup
about
help

test it out, i included my old very old bat file, to test backup feature.

cool things to test out
:
check defrag, and/or disk cleanup
try cleanup setup
try to restore when you dont have a backup file, then backup and restore with a backup file

im tired of programming for now, soo im taking a break Laughing
the final product will have a setup exe and msi i promise there will be some system files needed.

Thanks, i haven't had any time to work on it for a while, and doesn't look like i will have any time to work on for a while.

The auto schedule is working, i am very proud of it, check it out.

If y'all would run it, and sceenshot any errors anything weird, it would help.
Trend Micro thinks its malicious software, so some commands it asks for permission to access the OS, so other virus/security software may not like it either...

since last update i got:
autorun working
added shutdown timer (good if your also downloading)
about

whats left:
compile
help

heres new package:

I'll give it a shot on a few XP boxes I have here.
and toss it in VM Ware for different OS testing.

got compile 90% coded, just have to finish the defrag part..
added error dialogs, so program will not give random error codes (that nobody knows what it means..)

heres the new executables.

I accidentally removed parts of the code while editing, so i had to start from scratch on some parts, i think i got them all back, but if yall would check for me.

too tired, got work in 4 hours no sleep...

edit
well....
no sleep at all, and i believe i got everything except for the help file, and installsheild...

check it out: (running maintain.bat, verbose.bat probably wont work, because of the system files it needs)

now it should save the selected options on exited the app. it compiles 2 versions verbose mode, and standard mode.

i cut all the old links out of this topic,
there is a link at the top (for inpatient people) and
there is a link at the bottom (for people that are used to forums)

well its not really at the bottom anymore, my previous post

both links are the same, and is the latest version of my program.
it is a simple windows installer package. (.msi)

known issues:
shutdown command does not work for win2000, 9x
i am unsure of what will work with win9x

remember this is designed for use with WinXP, and everything should work with XP.

any other issues please let me know

Sorry, Didn't realize it had timed out.

Here a new link:
http://alphawolfpack.org/downloads/Computer_Maintain/Maintain_10.rar

I had a neat installisheld for it, but i lost it, so just extract it to program files or where ever you want, and create you a shortcut in menu or desktop.

I will have to make a new version for vista, because of the permission protection it will not work. I had a lot of ideas for it a while back, but never got to working on it so busy with school and such, I forgot what i wanted to do to it, which makes me upset.

I am looking to just create a more simplified script in which my copy of Ad-aware enterprise ("C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware Enterprise Client\Ad-Aware.exe") runs a scan and then saves a log file in a specific folder, say "C:\Logs\log.txt"..please help as I have been beating my head against a wall for weeks, thanks in advance

[see my note above]

I forgot to mention that the script would be running on both windows 2000 and XP, much of the help Ive attempted to follow might have been for XP though my test machine is win2000 (if that even makes a difference) and hasnt worked
